EDUCATOR INSIGHTS
Weekly insights for your journey as an Insightful Educator

Hello Insightful Educators
One of my favorite things to do is grab coffee with someone and catch up on the books, podcasts, TED talks, articles, shows, and people influencing them.
So, alongside the full newsletter, I push out a weekend edition of insights I think you will find influential in your journey as an Insightful Educator.
Think of it as you and I grabbing coffee and jamming on what’s influencing us at this time.
Feel free to reply with what you are finding helpful and invite a friend to subscribe! The more people around the table…the better!
What I’m Reading Now
Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived and Joyful Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans
This engaging and empowering read lifts the design-thinking toolkit from Stanford’s innovative course right into our daily journeys. Burnett and Evans guide readers through practical exercises like prototyping future lives by encouraging you to imagine possibilities, test them out, and iterate toward fulfillment. It’s a roadmap for crafting a life that thrives, reminding us that a well‑lived, joyful life doesn’t happen by chance, but by design. It’s a reminder that joy and purpose aren’t accidental—they’re built through intentional choices. A must‑read for educators seeking to create lives of impact and well-being for themselves and to help students do the same.
Two key quotes:
“You can’t know where you’re going until you know where you are.”
A reminder for all of us in education and in life: clarity begins with honest reflection on our current reality—personally and professionally.
“A well-designed life is a life that is generative—it is constantly creative, productive, changing, evolving, and there is always the possibility of surprise.”
An invitation to embrace curiosity and iteration as we shape our work, our schools, and our lives.
Person to Follow
I’m sure all of you are familiar with the work of Brene Brown but just in case there is someone out there who is not, I highly recommend starting here. Brene Brown is the foremost expert on the power of vulnerability, and how that is a powerful starting places on the road to growth and leadership.
